Schotel op voetring, brede platte rand. Versierd in onderglazuur blauw. Op plat en wand een voorstelling van een hoogwaardigheidsbekleder op een terras, een scepter in zijn hand. Achter hem een dienaar met zijn qin in een doek, voor hem twee dienaren met een stoffen zakje aan een stok. Op de voorgrond een boom en wat rotsblokken, op de achtergrond een mistbank en een tentenkamp. Op de rand drie bloemtakken: lotus, camelia en roos. Op de achterzijde drie perziktakken. Dish on footring, wide flat rim. Decorated in underglaze blue. In the centre and on the sides a dignitary holding a sceptre on a veranda. Behind him a servant with his qin wrapped in a cloth cover, before him two servants carrying a bag hanging on a stick. In the foreground a tree and some boulders, in the background a mist bank and an encampment. On the rim three flower sprays: lotus, camellia and rose. On the reverse three peach sprays. On the base a flower spray. The magistrate is depicted with the symbols of office: a slightly bowed, flat sceptre and a tall cap. His robe is highly detailed. The subject and decorative style are wholly that of transitional porcelain, but the shape of this dish with its flat rim and balanced composition are precursors of the later, more formalised Kangxi style. The decorations on the reverse and base are identical to those on the dish, cat. 49, which may indicate a serial production where only the centre decoration varied. (Engels)

Op de achterzijde drie perziktakken. Onder op de bodem een bloemtak. De magistraat draagt de kenmerken van zijn rang: een iets gebogen, platte scepter en een hoge kap op zijn hoofd. Zijn gewaad is gedetailleerd geschilderd. Het onderwerp en de wijze van beschildering is nog geheel in de stijl van het overgangsporselein, maar de vorm van de schotel met de platte rand en de rustige compositie zijn voorboden van de latere, meer geformaliseerde Kangxi stijl. De versiering van de achter- en onderkant komt precies zo voor op de schotel van cat. 50{}, hetgeen mogelijk duidt op een serie-produktie waarbij alleen de versiering op het plat wijzigde.
