De prinsen van Hirado voerden daar patronage over een porseleinbakkerij die klei van het eiland Makalsa verwerkte. Deze speciale klei maakte o.a. eierschaalporselein mogelijk. Tot 1843 produceerde men vooral voor de prinsen van Hirado, daarna steeds meer voor de export. Naast fijn geschilderde blauw-witte stukken maakte men ook witte beeldjes.
